Give a good long look to this excellently-produced Half Iron distance in Western Washington.

Nolte State park in Enumclaw is a beautiful, rural, family-friendly park that families can enjoy during the day with a swim beach, kids play area, and generous picnic area as their athletes come and go through transition. After the race, everyone can enjoy a full meal, finishers medal, and an awards celebration that awards the top 3 overall men and women in each race, and the top-3 finishers of each age group and relay.

Course Description
The course begins in beautiful Deep Lake, known for it's clear cool water - water temp expected in the low 70's. The bike course travels along the base of the Cascade foothills with a surprisingly low overall elevation gain - great for beginners or those looking for a fast fun bike. The bike elevation is much the same - a few small bumps but nothing considered a 'hill'. All races include 2 laps around Lake Nolte which is a hard-packed gravel trail. No trail shoes necessary.

Awards
We’ll award the top-3 men and women of each race and pull them from the Age Group Results. Then the top-3 age-group finishers in the Half Iron, Sprint and Top 3 Half Iron Relays will be awarded. See the schedule for the approximate time of the awards celebrations. All finishers will receive a medal.

Parking
Option 1: Parking on race day: you can purchase a $10 Black Diamond Triathlon parking permit for race day during registration.

PLEASE NOTE - absolutely no one will be permitted to drive out of the parking lot until the last bike has returned which we expect at around 2:00PM. Cars parked on Veazie -Cumberland in the 'No Parking' areas will be towed prior to the race starting. No parking on 300th from Veazie-Cumberland to the bus drop off.

Option 2: Race Day Drop Off- drop offs can be made on 300th, which is one street south of the park. Head to the bend in the road and drop off just past the bend. There is a short trail that leads into the park. Please do not block the street for the shuttle bus.

Option 3: Ride your bike from the parking area in Cumberland to Nolte State Park. It is 1.5 miles away. Bring your gear in a backpack and warm up with a ride to the park. It will allow you more time at the park to pick up your packet and set up your transition spot. The parking will be the Cumberland Fire Station (35420 Veazie-Cumberland Road Enumclaw, WA).

Option 4: Parking will also be available in Cumberland - about 1.5 miles away - and a shuttle bus will be running throughout the day taking athletes, spectators, and volunteers to and from the park. To improve the flow of athletes to and from the park, we highly suggest that athletes bring their gear in a backpack and ride the 1.5 miles between the race venue and parking lot. While you can put your bike on the shuttle if necessary, the shuttle is best for spectators or athletes without a bike. The parking will be the Cumberland Fire Station (35420 Veazie-Cumberland Road Enumclaw, WA). The first shuttle will begin loading about 6:00 AM at the Fire Station. Bikes are allowed on the shuttle..

How to Avoid The Porta Potty During a Race

We've all seen it and most of us have done it ... 30 minutes (or less) into a race athletes are already looking for a port potty. The good news is that it doesn't have to be that way. The secret is a proper hydration plan before the gun goes off, and here's how you do it.

Still using GU, PowerGel or Clif SHOT?
See why athletes are making the switch to e-Gel, the only Electrolyte Energy Gel. Get 230 mg Sodium, 85 mg Potassium and more complex carbs than any other gel.
