Welcome to the Lake County Recreation Department’s “Tri-It-High” Sprint Triathlon and “Du-It-High” Duathlon. At 10,200 feet of elevation, this event could very well be the highest Triathlon/Duathlons in Colorado if not the United States. Enjoy the majestic Sawatch Mountain Range scenery with the 2 highest peaks in Colorado as a backdrop and prove you have the stamina and endurance to compete in one of the Rocky Mountain’s Ultimate Sprint Triathlon/Duathlons. This event is becoming one of the premier Triathlon/Duathlons in Colorado because of its scenic beauty, breathtaking courses, challenging conditions, and meticulous organization. Feedback from last year’s participants reveal that the “Tri-It-High” Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon is one of the best organized, challenging, scenic, and satisfying races they have ever participated in. (BECAUSE OF SAFETY AND HEALTH CONCERNS, THIS WILL BE A DOG FREE EVENT IN THE ENTIRE MIDDLE SCHOOL PARKING LOT AREA!!)

Event Start Location
Times & Directions: Race begins at 8:00 am on Sunday July 17, 2011 at the Lake County Aquatic Center. Pre registration will be on Saturday July, 16th from 4:00-8:00pm and race day from 6:00-7:30am at the Aquatic Center. This will include packet pick-up and body marking. From I-70, take the Copper Mountain exit. Drive south on Hwy 91 to Leadville (28 Miles). Hwy 91 becomes Harrison Ave. in Leadville. Turn right on 6th St. and drive to 1000 W. 6th St.. The Aquatic Center and middle school will be on your right.

Course Description
The Course: The swim portion of the event will be held in our newly remodeled heated indoor facility with the bike and run legs being held on breathtaking courses at the base of Mt. Massive and on the scenic Turquoise Lake paved road. Duathlon participants will substitute an additional 5K run (5K run, 20K bike, 5K run).


Awards
Divisions & Awards: Triathlon Awards will be presented to the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as the 1st and 2nd place finisher age 19 & under and in each 5-year age group beginning with age 20-24 up to age 60 and above. Each participant’s age for awards will be determined by their age on December 31, 2011. This is a standard rule in triathlon and duathlon. Members of the top male and female relay teams and the first place male and female Fat-Tire (an optional division for participants who ride their mountain bikes) and Clydesdale and Athena finishers will also receive awards.
NEW!! Clydesdale + Athena Divisions: This year we will introduce the Clydesdale and Athena categories in the Triathlon Division with the first place male and female receiving awards. Male weight category is 200+ lbs and Female is 150+ lbs. (Not scored in age divisions.)

Duathlon awards will be presented to the 1st and 2n place overall male and female finishers as well as the top male and female finisher age 19 & under and in each 10-year age group beginning with age 20-29 up to age 60 and above. (All Triathlon and Duathon participants will be eligible for awesome raffle awards).

Packet Pickup / Expo

Timing / Results
Results & Timing: RaceRite Timing will provide Chip timing technology for this event. Results with splits will be posted on-site during the event, and online on the evening of the race.

Post Race Activities
Great food and drink along with awards ceremony at the conclusion of race as well as awesome free drawings for all participants. Plenty of food and drinks during and after race.

Weather
Average Leadville day in July consists of blue skies and 75 degrees.
