The Nevada Silverman Full Distance Triathlon in its inaugural year will be making history by celebrating the 100 year birthday of Las Vegas and bringing back the “Vintage” triathlon. Huge casinos, larger than life parties and vast expanses of rugged desert terrain, America’s ultimate party town, Las Vegas, is throwing a year long bash in 2005 celebrating its centennial and the days of its wild west youth.
As the city reminisces, the Nevada Silverman, a full distance triathlon, will be working with the City of Henderson to bring triathletes from around the world back to their roots. This down and dirty vintage triathlon, done Vegas style, taking place Sunday, November 13th, 2005, features a 2.4 mile swim in Lake Mead, a 112 mile ride with over 9,200 feet of elevation gain and a 26.2 mile run. And hey, this is Vegas baby, so you can bet the greatest party in triathlon history will follow the race.
