Event Start Location
We encourage bringing your friends, family and running partners to spend time and enjoy this beautiful area. Considered the heart of the Willamette Valley, the Yamhill Valley is less then an hour drive from downtown Portland and encompasses multiple wine appellations. The race is staged on Saturday with race activities planned beginning on Thursday in Portland.

Distance: 13.1 miles (point-to-point)
Start Area: Stoller Vineyards 16161 NE McDougall Rd. Dayton, OR 97114
Finish: 120 N. Pine Street The Depot, Carlton, OR 97111

Course Description
This idyllic 13.1-mile course runs through Yamhill Valley, which is in the heart of the Willamette Valley, within four American Viticulture Areas (Dundee Hills, Yamhill-Carlton, Chehalem Mountains, and Ribbon Ridge).
The race starts at Stoller Vineyards and Winery perched on a hill just outside the towns of Lafayette and Dundee. Once out of the gates of Stoller, runners will soon make their way through a small residential section of Lafayette, and then begin a scenic three-mile journey along Abbey Rd. (Can you hear the Beatles playing on your iPod?) The relay transition area is located just beyond the entrance to Abbey Road Farm B&B just after mile 6. From here runners will take a sweeping left onto Hendricks Road and start heading west for two miles.
At mile 8 the course veers left and onto the newly re-routed section of the course for 2012. The course will stay on Hendricks Road for about another 2/3 of a mile before turning left onto NE Mineral Springs Road. Runners will run south on Mineral Springs Road, a beautiful and quiet part of the course. Just after Mile 10, runners will turn right on NE Jernstedt Road where they will begin the 1.6-mile gravel section of the course. A right turn off of Jernstedt and onto NE Old McMinnville Hwy points you back north and towards the town of Carlton. Pass one last aid station just before the pavement resumes. A turn left back onto Hendricks and you are heading to the finish!
The course has some rolling hills, typical for wine country, with a minimum elevation of 171 ft. and a maximum of 302 ft. The course starts at 220 feet elevation and finishes at 187 feet for a net elevation gain/loss of minus 33 feet. There are seven aid stations and medical support on course.

How to Avoid The Porta Potty During a Race

We've all seen it and most of us have done it ... 30 minutes (or less) into a race athletes are already looking for a port potty. The good news is that it doesn't have to be that way. The secret is a proper hydration plan before the gun goes off, and here's how you do it.

Reviews
Average Rating:
Recent Review: For an inaugural race, it was good.Still some bugs to work out over transportation and getting everyone to the start on time. Need more port-a-potties as lines at start were tooo long. This caused delays in the start time. There were sufficient water tables but did not like the gravel section too much. Was much hillier than I thought from discription but overall a nice race. Weather could not have been better.
