The Mount Evans Ascent is the highest paved road race in North America, starting at 10,600 feet in elevation and climbing to the summit of 14,264 foot Mt Evans via the scenic paved auto road. Each finisher receives a custom finishers medal, with a special “Trophy Rock” awarded to men who finish under 2:40 and women under 3 hours. A terrific post race picnic with awards & raffles greet you as you filter down off the mountain. $1,700 in overall, masters, and course record bonuses will be offered in 2013. This race has sold out since 2007.

Event Start Location Near Echo Lake Campground (however, campground is not part of the event - please do not call them!)
Course Description Runners will start at the Echo Lake Campground, located at the intersection of Hwy. 103(Squaw Pass Rd.) and Hwy. 5 (Mt. Evans Road). From there, the course climbs for 14.5 miles up North America's highest paved road. The course takes you through montane, subalpine, and alpine environments to the summit of Mt. Evans at 14,264 ft.
Awards Finish medals to all finishers! Awards: 3 deep-male/female-5yr age groups-starting at 19&Under. Trophy Rocks for all male finishers under 2:40; women under 3:00. Prize money for overall top M/F $300; top M/F masters (40+) $100. Course record bonus of $650 for men & $250 for women will be awarded to the first male or female that breaks the current course record.

Timing / Results RFID bib-chip timed - results shuttled to start line/post picnic party every 30 minutes
Post Race Activities The new post race picnic was a big hit in 2010 so we will continue with that catered meal post race. Athletes will be shuttled off the mountain in 12 person vans back to the start line where the homemade sandwiches, baked potates and cookies await. Tents under which to shelter or indoors if weather doesn't cooperate. Music, raffles and awards available every 30 minutes.
Weather Expect anything including the most spectacular views ever.
Directions Echo Lake is located 14 miles from Idaho Springs. From I-70, take exit 240 and turn south on Hwy 103. Drive 14 miles to Echo Lake.
