New, inexpensive, low-key track event featuring two self-explanatory races: A one hour run (with results sorted by distance covered), and a concurrent one mile race in lane 7. $2 entry fee; preregistration by e-mail R.S.V.P.; limit 36 runners in the one hour and 14 in the one miler. Chondromalacia is a term used to describe damage or softening of the articular cartilage on the underside of the kneecap. It is similar to patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee), which refers to pain under and around the knee cap.
