 Knee Pain - Chondromalacia - Irritation Under The Kneecap
Chondromalacia is a term used to describe damage or softening of the articular cartilage on the underside of the kneecap. It is similar to patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee), which refers to pain under and around the knee cap.

First of all, this is a Ride, not a race. Don't let that stop you, though. I just mention that because so many people are really gung ho about racing, they don't realize that they can have a great time with hordes of people. This is a unique opportunity to ride with thousands of people (90% of which are super nice and friendly) in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT through the streets of Chicago with minimal automobile/truck interaction.
It's 25 miles, hardly any hills, on city streets. Refreshments are served before, after, and at a rest stop partway. Plus you have the whole route which is in the city so there are plenty of places to stop off for a cold drink or a pick-me-up snack.
It's loads of fun, especially with a group. All ages participation. Most people are between 20 and 45 I'd say. However lots of families including grandparents do it. Some hard core riders but mostly it's casual. Never really that hot because the sun is down. Great to watch the sunrise on Lake Michigan as you ride the last several miles on the lake bike path.
