The Waterfall 5K is run on the trails of the Kokiwanee Nature Preserve. Kokiwanee is a former Girl Scout camp that was purchased by the ACRES Land Trust to preserve for future generations. The site has numerous waterfalls and is one of Indiana’s true natural treasures. Part of your entry will go toward ACRES. The start and finish are at the pavilion on 600E. This is at the tailwaters of the Salamonie Dam. There will be a cookout after the race on the pavilion grill.

Course Description
Runners will go up the hill on 600E, turn left and then quickly dart into the Nature Preserve for a trail challenge. The course will then exit the preserve and runners will finish on the downhill paved surface of 600E. This site has numerous waterfalls and you will run across the top of the largest waterfall in the preserve.

Directions
At the Kokiwanee Nature Preserve near Lagro and Andrews, Indiana, at the tailwaters of the Salamonie Dam. The start/finish are at the Tailwaters pavilion. From Fort Wayne or Wabash: Take the new 4 lane US 24, then turn onto old 2 lane US 24 to Lagro. (It's SR 524 from the west. In Lagro, SR 524 turns south over the bridge. When SR 524 curves to the east, continue east on Hanging Rock Rd., leaving SR 524. Travel 1.2 miles and turn right (south) on 500E. Continue on 500E for 1.5 miles as it turns into 50S. Preserve is on the right just before 600E. You'll want to go to 600E and turn south. Take 600E to the bottom of the hill to the pavilion. Plenty of paved parking.
