Welcome to the Mesa Falls Marathon. The marathon continues to grow each year and organizers have already started planning a great race. The marathon starts at 6:30 AM and the starting line is a mile and a half above the Pole Bridge Campground off the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway or Highway 47. The buses will leave the High School parking lot at 5:15 AM to take runners to the start. Buses will follow the main highway (Hwy. 20) north and turn on the north end of the scenic loop road (Hwy. 47). This road is the first right turn after Harriman State Park. Follow Highway 47 four miles and turn left on Hatchery Butte Road. Start watching for the starting line banner (approx. 3 miles). Support vehicles are welcome to drive runners to the start as well as follow runners along course where possible.
The half marathon starts at 8:30 AM and begins just above Bear Gulch on Highway 47. The buses will leave at 7:45 AM from the High School parking lot and follow Highway 47 to the starting point. The course is well marked with aid stations throughout the race.
The finish is located at the Ashton City Park. There will be two separate finish chutes, one for Marathon racers and another for Half Marathon racers. A large sign will be posted near the finish directing runners into the appropriate finish chute. Food and drinks available at the finish line.
Course:The race starts close to the northern end of highway 47 in the very scenic Island Park caldera, then runs south past upper and lower Mesa Falls, Warm River and across the world famous Idaho potato fields. The race ends on Main Street of historic Ashton, Idaho. The scenery is some of the most spectacular in the country.
Temperature: We start around 50 degrees and a finish around 70 degrees. However, these are Idaho mountains so come prepared for anything including snow?

Chondromalacia is a term used to describe damage or softening of the articular cartilage on the underside of the kneecap. It is similar to patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee), which refers to pain under and around the knee cap.
