Half Marathon
Clevland National Forest, California
Click to go to the web site for the RND Winter Trail Running Series Half Marathon in Clevland National Forest, California

All start times are 8:00 am with the exception of the SJT 50K. All runners must sign in on race day before 7:30 a.m. at Bluejay Campground. Please no bikes on the course or unauthorized vehicles on any US Forest Service roads. We must comply with the US Forest Service guidelines. You may want to bring friends and family to the events, as they can cheer everyone on at the start and finish lines. Volunteers are always welcome.

Location:
Bluejay Campground is in the Cleveland National Forest in the Trabuco Ranger District. Go east from I-5 at San Juan Capistrano. Continue down Ortega Hwy #74 for about 22 miles and turn left at the entrance to the campground and drive up Long Canyon road, following the chalk marks. At Bluejay Campground area, turn left from Long Canyon Road and follow that paved road around. Be sure to park on the correct side in single file as you are headed to Bluejay campground.

Parking Fees:
There is a charge for parking on all Cleveland National Forest roads. A day pass is $5.00 or an Adventure pass is $30.00, which is good for a year. You can purchase these through us and pick them up on Raceday at Registration desk -- on our web site -- or contact the US Forest Service at 909-736-1811.
We can use your help. Please try to carpool if possible. We are hoping to please the US Forest Service by controlling our vehicles at our events.

Course:
All WTRS events will be run within the Cleveland National Forest, Trabuco Forest Ranger District trails and fire roads. You will leave lower Bluejay Campground at the start line (3,300ft) and follow the paved road up to the Main Divide. Continue up Main Divide fire road to the Trabuco Trail (4,194ft), 3.5miles out from start, and the 1st Aid Station. Descend 2/3 the way down Trabuco Trail to West Horse Thief Trail(3.5 or so mi.) and climb back up to the Main Divide (about a 1,800 ft climb in less than 2 miles!) At the top of Horsethief will be the 2nd Aid Station. Head back on the Main Divide passing Trabucco Trail and the 3rd Aid Station back to Blue Jay Campground and finish up the race on the Falcon Trail.
