The Kona Marathon offers four road racing distances to choose from: Marathon (26.2 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Quarter Marathon (10.55 Kilometer), and 5 Kilometer. All distances are open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

The Kona/Kohala Coast on the Big Island is well known as the ultimate vacation destination in Hawaii. All four races, Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5K courses run along the spectacular scenic drive throughout the Waikoloa Beach Resort offering beautiful views. The Marathon and 1/2 Marathon courses extend into the unique black lava volcanic landscape of the Big Island of Hawaii. Experience the true aloha of Hawaii in this smaller family friendly event.

Course Description
The runs are out and back and travel throughout the Waikoloa Beach Resort and along the Kona Coast with the Marathon and Half continuing into the black lava fields, following on the renown Ironman World Championship Bike portion. Aid Stations are well stocked with water and GU Replenishment Drink every 1 1/2 miles. Helpful and friendly volunteers greet and encourage you along the way. There is fresh hot coffee available at the Start line from the title sponsor - UCC the best 100% Kona coffee and at the Finish line.

Awards
Awards/Prizes: for both male and female, first overall in each race (Marathon top three) and top 2 in each of 5 year age division.. Award presentations will take place approximately 9:30 am. (Top three Marathon - male & female - $250, $150, $75) There is also a $100 prize for the first place Big Island Resident Marathon Finisher - male and female. All participants will receive a t-shirt and medal given to all finishers as they cross the finish line.

Packet Pickup / Expo
Late registration and packet pick up is Saturday, June 24, at the host hotel - Hilton Waikoloa Village 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. There is no race day registration. You can however, pick up your race number from 4:30 am until race start. Bring your swim suit as there is great snorkeling at A Bay close to the hotel. Swim with the turtles and colorful reef fish. Even try out a little surfing if you are so inclined.

Timing / Results
The timing is done by JTL Timing Company. This is a chip timed race. Result cards will be available for all participants once they cross the finish line. Race results will be available on line at: www.JTLtiming.com, www.konamarathon.com on Monday, June 27 and in the West Hawaii newspaper.

Post Race Activities
Join in the fun of the award ceremonies

Weather
Weather at 5:30 am will be in the 70's raising to mid 80's by 11:00 am. Drink lots of water on the course and begin hydrating with electrolytes 3 to 4 days pre race.
There are aid stations and porta potties every 1 to 1 1/4 miles along the courses.

Directions
The Waikoloa Beach Resort is 18 miles North of the Kona Airport on the Kona/Kohala Coast the Queen Kaahumanu Hwy (Hwy 11)

Parking
Free shuttle buses will be available to and from the Hilton Hotel beginning at 4:00 am for runners only. The Start and Finish is 1 mile walk from the Hilton the Host Hotel.
