The All You Can Eat Century is routed on roads in northern Madison County and Southern Middle Tennessee that is very popular with Huntsville cyclists.  The area north of the state line enters the Coldwater Creek and Elk River watershed regions.  This is an area of short, frequent hills and numerous small shaded lanes perfect for road biking.  The area is akin to a mountain bike park for roadies.  The variety of terrain and pavement make for extremely scenic, occasionally challenging and always interesting road biking.  (Keep in mind that road quality is separate from pavement quality.  Actual pavement quality ranges from freshly paved to 'interesting'.  Tire choice should be biased towards durable over light weight.)  After a 25-mile flat warm-up through the cotton fields of Madison County, AL, the route crosses TN-110 and descends into the Coldwater Creek valley.  The next 55 miles is a grab bag of hills, shade and scenery unrivaled on any ride in Alabama.  By hills, we mean 4500 feet of climbing, crammed mostly between miles 30 and 80.  Yes, much of this is in Tennessee, but Huntsville riders claim it as local turf.  Many local Spring City Cycling Club Rides start north of Huntsville to stage a border raid on some excellent cycling roads.

Event Start Location
Bob Harrison Wellness Center, 6156 Pulaski Pike NW, Huntsville, AL 35810

Course Description
The premier Skyline Century presents riders with a rolling warm-up for the first 42 miles before climbing 2.3 miles up Skyline Mountain. It follows the high ridgeline for an undulating 14 miles along shaded roads before descending down a perfectly straight three miles into the deeply shaded and remote Paint Rock Valley. This road is Alabama 65, which is the Curly Putman Scenic Byway. You will see why it is quite popular with motorcyclists and sports car clubs. Reaching its northernmost point in Elora, TN, riders return straight south down the Hurricane Creek watershed. After a very, very wet start in 2013, hardy century riders were rewarded with a strong tailwind and clearing skies for the final 23 miles.

As an Alabama Backroads Century Series event, the AYCE will distribute medals to all centurions. Those completing their 4th century in the Series will receive patches.
