Jerdon Mountain Challenge July 26, 2013

Warmup to the ORAMM or just come out and ride a 24 mile course that doesn't have you riding in circles! This is backcountry racing at its finest with a shorter course and still all the amenities of a long distance endurance race. This race will run the same course as the ever popular Off Road Assault on Mt Mitchell but will end before the famed climb up Curtis Creek Road to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The race will still tackle some ORAMM highlights like Old Highway 70, Kitsuma, Star Gap and Jarrett Creek. Celebrate with a huge after party complete with pasta/salad feast, beer and wine on the picturesque Gateway Museum grounds.

Event Start Location
The event starts at the Gateway Museum grounds in Old Fort, NC.
Date: Saturday, July 26, 2013
Time: Mandatory ride meeting at start line at 7:45am. Ride starts at 8:00am

Course Description
Course covers 24 miles and 3,000'+ of elevation gain
Includes famed trails Kitsuma, Star Gap and Jarrett Creek
Controlled Start with a Police escort for the initial 3 paved miles of the race
Open course means you may encounter other users on trails and vehicles on roads

Packet Pickup / Expo
Registration packet pickup begins race morning at 6am. Early packet pickup will be available on Friday (July 19) from 6-8pm at the Finish in the grassy field beside the Gateway Museum.

Post Race Activities
Finish Party: Each rider will receive tickets for Pasta/Salad and beer/wine. Additional will be availalbe for purchase and for spectators. Massage will also be available for $1/minute from Hands on Healing Professionals.

Rain or Shine

From Asheville take I-40 to Old Fort Exit #73. Go towards downtown Old Fort. The start/finish will be at the Gateway Museum. The museum is on the right.
